Textweek Blog

Host and compiler of The Text this Week (a. k. a. textweek.com) Jenee Woodard sent me news of her new blog a month ago. She keeps up with lots of web postings and resources on topics and texts of interest to preachers and others. Check out the blog at http://textweek.blogs.com/textweek/

Technical Blog Stuff

Viewing
A couple of people have mentioned to me that they cannot see the entire posts on Pilgrim Preaching. I have adjusted some page settings, and the problem should be fixed, but if you're still having trouble try this: maximize your browser window. With Internet Explorer, click on the middle box in the set of three small boxes at the top right of your window. This should make the browser window fill your screen and the categories column will stop overlapping with the content column. If this doesn't work, please let me know. We'll go back to the design drawing board.

Printing
In other news, a print style sheet that will cut the "categories" column out of the mix when you try to print a page is on my "To Do" list. I'll post a note here about that when it's ready. In the meantime, it works to highlight the selection you want to print (drag your mouse over it; the lines will turn blue or another color to indicate that they're highlighted). With the text highlighted, click: File, then Print... (at the top of your open window, left hand side). In the dialog box that appears, click "selection" (instead of "all," which will probably be chosen by default).

What about listeners to sermons?

A recent reader of the site offered this comment:

"I really like concept of 'Pilgrim Preaching'...so why limit it to preachers? Many of us non-preachers prepare for Sundays by bathing in the lectionary readings days in advance (something more preachers might consider). "

It's a great idea, and I'd love it if listeners to sermons felt just as welcome to read and comment as anyone else. To make that possible, I probably need a new subtitle. "Conversations with preachers and texts" doesn't sound welcoming to people who work with sermons by hearing them, rather than preaching them. Ideas:

  1. Hearing and preaching the Bible.

  2. Conversations with texts and sermons.

  3. Conversations with those who have ears (ok, probably not, but it sounded a little like Jesus to me).

  4. ??
